We are trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy (PACT), Sex Therapy, Gottman Method and other attachment-based couples therapy modalities. Any therapist can call themselves a couples and marriage counselor, but we collectively have many years and thousands of hours of specialized trainings and direct patient/client contact. We believe that helping folks have better relationships makes the world a better place. After all, we all want love & connection in our lives. We can help you have the relationship you want.
At North Berkeley Couples Therapy Center, we are most interested in helping people to cultivate loving intimate relationships, whether that relationship is to one's own self or with others. Intimacy and love begin with ourselves and then extends into our connections with others. To have compassion for others, first requires to have self-compassion.
While we are primarily couple's therapists, we are also able to help individuals in creating the relationships they want. In learning how to develop self-compassion, understand your feelings and the needs behind them, and by improving your communication skills, you will begin to to cultivate loving insight for yourself. This leads to transformative healing. You may also notice that your relationships often change for the better. We assist individuals, couples, children and parents create the loving and securely-attached relationships they seek.
Every therapy is tailored to the unique needs of the individual or couple we work with. The therapy is based in compassion & is a joint effort to create the opportunity to experience a positive (corrective) emotional shift. Our work is collaborative and relational.
